Responsibilities

The CMS Module Lead manages and facilitates all system implementations, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, and enhancements of the CMS Baseline (PeopleSoft) Student Financial applications, third party systems for cashiering and e-commerce, and interfaces to the Financial Information System. In the area of systems implementation and upgrades, responsibilities include creating and maintaining project plans, managing project priorities, and developing, maintaining, and managing project schedules and budgets. Supports the development of automated accounting practices, security, and policies and procedures to ensure system specifications conform to internal controls. As part of a team, enhances the scope and functionality of reports to meet the needs of diverse customers. Ensures timely delivery of student financial reports, efficient use of resources, and maximum usability by functional users. Ensures adherence to appropriate standards of documentation, testing, and security. Provides leadership and direction for a Financial Analyst. 



Qualifications & Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

This leadership position requires:

  • A combination of accounting knowledge, project management, team facilitation, and systems analysis skills, as well as the ability to act as a liaison between functional users, technical resources, and outside functional and technical service providers. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply project management techniques, including ability to coordinate many different project tasks, determine relative importance of each, prioritize, and set appropriate deadlines to complete all tasks accordingly. 
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and see projects through to successful completion. 
  • The ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and coordinate staff/work team activities. 
  • Able to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing job responsibilities. 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to produce clear and accurate written and graphic documentation. 
  • Ability to develop and communicate clear and understandable operating policies and procedures for business users and the campus community. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to work in a flexible, collaborative manner and to provide open feedback to customers, campus users, executive management, supervisors, colleagues, and staff. 
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. 
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Equivalent to a four-year degree in Accounting, Business, Information Management, or similar degree pertaining to accounting and systems. 
  • A minimum of three years of successful accounting and systems project experience is required. 
  • Four years of accounting and systems project experience is preferred. 
  • Preferred experience includes working in a medium to large accounts receivable or financial office in a highly automated environment. 
  • Experience with cashiering, disbursements, and collections is very desirable. 
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Student Financial Module is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience in a diverse academic organization is desirable.
